The name Sorpasso, comes from the movie filmed in the 60s which confirmed Castiglioncello as a place of big actors, with its unique beauty and gem directly on the sea.
The final part of the filming was done exactly on the street Aurelia that runs by the wineyard. Our Sorpasso is dedicated to the meeting of the original own soils and the Italian cinema.
Sorpasso is a red wine made from carefully selcted grapes from the most favored parcels of our wineyard. When the grapes reach optimal maturity, they are picked by hand and subjected to fermentation and slow maceration to extract the more noble tannins and the varietal aromas.
After the racking off, the wine is aged in small French oak barrels for about 14/16 months. This is followed by bottle aging for at least 12 months to enhance its quality and its structure.
Sorpasso is a wine that has an intense aroma of red fruit, aromatic herbs and spicy notes. It is rich on the palate, with enveloping and elegant tannins and a good balance of taste and aroma.

The land of the Macchiaioli
Fortulla wine was born in one of the most enchanting places in Tuscany, where the gentle hills plunge into the turquoise of the Mediterranean Sea.
These places have always been an inspiration for artists. Here, in particular, the Macchiaioli movement was born in the late 1800s, forerunners of the most famous French impressionists.
It is said that just along the road that climbs towards Castelnuovo, passing through Poggio Pelato, where the Fortulla vineyards overlook the Mare Nostrum, the painters stopped to paint the sublime Mediterranean landscapes.
