What is Alginate?
Alginate is natural Polysaccharide extracted from seaweeds.
In other words, it is natural fiber and sustainable resources.
KIMICA's propylene glycol alginate (PGA) is made by the esterification of the carboxyl groups in alginic acid with propylene glycol groups. Use of PGA overcomes problems which can arise when using unesterified alginates. With unesterified alginates undesired gelation or precipitation can occur, especially at acidic pH values and in the presence of a high level of divalent cations. PGA can in products with high levels of divalent cations.
