Sassolino, sometimes called Sassolino di Modena, is an anise-flavored Liqueur from Sassuolo, Italy. Its flavor is derived from Star Anise and the original recipe was created in the first years of ' 800 in Sassuolo, inspired by the exceptional therapeutic virtues of anise, recognized through the centuries by the most ancient civilizations.
This liquor, also great for cocktails and pastries, is an excellence of the Modena area and is known and appreciated throughout Italy.
Sipped after a meal with or without ice or mixed with tonic water is an excellent digestive. Also it can be used to lace coffee. It is great for long drinks and cocktails and is also unchallenged in the preparation of desserts and cakes, to which it confers an unmistakable flavour.
