Around 60-65 countries of the world produce sesame seed. Asian and African countries are the major producers of this. The top five producers account for around 70% of the production. The sesame seed is used full in cooking for its rich nutty flavor and also yields oil. The ground and processed seeds can also be used in sweet confections. Sesame seeds are occasionally added to breads and at the tops of hamburger buns.
