Brief Introduction of Sesamin
The sesame, a kind of annual herbage, belongs to the family of benne. Its root, leaves, flowers, fruits can be employed in the officinal use. Today the pharmacological study reveals that the sesame contains various nutrients that strengthening with tonics, such as the fattiness, sucrose, vitamin E, protein, sesamin and glycerolipid.
There are two kinds of sesames, one is white sesame generally used in foods, and the other one is black sesame used in pharmacology. Sesame as a medicine is first recorded in ?Shengnong Bencaojing?. It benefits the liver and kidney, tonifies blood and essence, lubricate the dryness of the intestine. Clinically, it is used for dizziness, bombus and early whiteness of hair.
There is a magic component named sesamin with a concentration at 0.5% approximately in the seeds of the sesame. Sesamin represents strong anti- oxidation in life body resulting in multiple physiological functions.

Sesamin can protect liver by hastening metabolism of ethanol, increasing the oxidation of hepatic fatty acid.

The experiments in rats shows that sesamin can inhibit the growth of SC (skin cancer) cell.
