Sunflower husk granulated
Sunflower is valued not only for the seeds that are used in the manufacture of vegetable oil, by-products formed during the processing of kernels are also widely used: baskets, meal, cake, sunflower husk. The husk is separated during the preparation of sunflower seeds for the production of oil, the meal is extracted during the extraction of oil by extraction, and the cake is obtained during the production of oil by pressing.
Separation of the husk from the kernel contributes to:
-improve the quality of the oil
-increasing the oil content of processed raw materials
-getting rid of low-oil components
-increasing the productivity of technological equipment
When processing sunflower kernels at an oil-pressing plant, a large amount of husk is formed – about 14% of the total volume of seeds. To dispose of it in such volumes is financially costly and quite difficult technically. Today there are several ways to profitably use sunflower seed husks:
-use as raw materials for the production of compound feed;
-addition to coarse feed in animal husbandry in crushed form;
-use as fuel;
-application in agriculture as an organic fertilizer for loosening and saturating the soil with useful substances
Due to the high content of protein, trace elements and vitamins, sunflower is considered one of the most valuable and relatively affordable feed for farm animals. The addition of granulated sunflower husk when fattening pigs and cattle can effectively increase the productivity of animals and significantly reduce the cost of buying animal feed.
Granulation is one of the most common methods of husk processing, in which the moisture content of the product is reached up to 10% and the initial volume is reduced several times.
