Introduction
Yeast Beta Glucan is a special compound derived from the cell walls of yeast ( Saccharomyces cerevisiae ). Its chemical structure is long beta 1,6- glucan branched beta 1,3- glucan. It is widely accepted now that the beta-1,3-glucan purified from yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is the most potent anti-infective immunomodulator of all species of beta 1,3-glucans.
Research indicates that beta-1,3-Glucan derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae triggers an immune response in the body creating a system of defense against viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic or neoplastic invaders, lowers blood cholesterol levels, Inhibits tumor growth. Many studies also showed that beta-1,3-Glucan is a powerful free radical scavenger.
