A medium bodied RED WINE with ripe plum fruit and
soft red berry flavours. Smooth and elegant with a
subtle oak influence.
The Awa Awa Story
Awa Awa means ‘river gorge’ in Maori. When Maori arrived in New Zealand they settled in the river valleys and along the coast where food was plentiful. Today, many of these areas have given way to vineyards, producing outstanding premium New Zealand wine.
Winemaking
Fully ripened Grapes-p1.html" target='_blank'>Grapes were picked at selected Hawkes Bay vineyards and transferred to our nearby winery for processing. On arrival, the bunches were destemmed and the juice and skins transferred to large fermentation vessels. After a slow warm fermentation the wine was racked for maturation. After 4 to 5 months the wine was fined using natural fining agents before bottling.
