Flavours of ripe, dark plums and Cherries with white
pepper, clove and dried herb aromas. Round and
supple through the palate.
The Awa Awa Story
Awa Awa means ‘river gorge’ in Maori. When Maori arrived in New Zealand they settled in the
river valleys and along the coast where food was plentiful. Today, many of these areas have given
way to vineyards, producing outstanding premium New Zealand wine.
Winemaking
The 2012 season was cooler and damper than average. Fine, dry spells during April offered a reprieve and allowed us to hang our fruit out for extended ripening time.
This wine is produced from small parcels of premium grapes from selected vineyards. These food-friendly wines have good palate weight and are styled to bring out the true varietal character of the region.
Tasting Notes
Flavours of ripe, dark plums and cherries with white pepper, clove and dried herb aromas. Round and supple through the palate with a long fruit-driven finish and fine tannins.
Can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 7-10 years from vintage date. Enjoy with red meat dishes – we recommend venison, beef and duck.
