Our barley is primarily grown in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Grain Millers has a number of barley products in both conventional and organic varieties. Our know-how in milling grains allows us to offer a range of barley products from pearled or "pot" barley to whole grain flours differing in degree of gelatinization.
Dehulled barley berries are the result of cleaning and partially debranning hulled barley. They find uses as whole berries, kibbled grains, flakes, meals and flours.
Barley grits are barley kernels cut and sized through a proprietary process. They are primarily used in soups, specialty breads and other bakery applications where the texture of whole grain is desired.
Barley flakes are a result of conditioning, steaming, cutting and flaking pre-cleaned, partially-debranned barley berries. They provide a distinct flavor-alternative to the more common oat flakes. Grain Millers provides a quick barley flake customized to fit the needs of a particular application.
Barley flour is produced by grinding and sifting pre-cleaned, partially-debranned barley berries. Barley flour contains most of the nutrients of whole barley berries as well as valuable beta-glucans known for their ability to reduce high levels of cholesterol.
