Conca de Barbera
Winemaking: All the Grapes come from a single vineyard on the slopes of the mountains, with an output of less than 1 kg per vine. Prefermentative maceration for 3-4 days and after that, it has a 25ºC fermentation and a maceration of 22 days with open lifts and "delastage." Malolactic fermentation and ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels. Only 3983 hand-numbered bottles.
Concept: Author´s wine that stands out for its finesse and elegance and above all by its great complexity. It is only elaborated when there is an exceptional vintage.
Composition: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo).
Viticulture
Soil type: Poor and rocky soil. It is situated on slopes protected by the forests. "Licorella" from "Muntanyes de Prades".
Climate: Continental - mediterranean.
Vine Age: 26 years
Slope: 500 m above sea level.
Yield (kg/ha): 2800 kg. Cabernet Sauvignon and 4500 kg Tempranillo.
Tasting notes
Colour: Very dark cherry red with light brick red hues, the result of its further ageing.
Nose: Deep red fruit and wild berries, blended with toasty notes, Spice and earthiness, giving it a very complex nature.
Palate: Intense, round, with a very long finish, great complexity and a harmonious, elegant structure.
Other: The optimum temperature for consumption is 17ºC. It combines well with stewed meat and mature cheese.
Distinctions: 90 points "300 mejores vinos de España". 90 points Wine Advocate (R. Parker) and Stephen Tanzer. Gold Medal "IBERWINE". Best wine reserve D.O. Conca de Barberà.
