Displays golden straw colours & ripe
melon, peach, citrus flavours. Oak enhances
the wine & adds a subtle biscuity character.
The Awa Awa Story
Awa Awa means ‘river gorge’ in Maori. When Maori arrived in New Zealand they settled in the
river valleys and along the coast where food was plentiful. Today, many of these areas have given
way to vineyards, producing outstanding premium New Zealand wine.
Winemaking
The 2013 growing season produced near perfect conditions for Chardonnay with long periods of warm dry weather. Grapes were harvested in top condition throughout April and displayed excellent varietal flavours.
The grapes for this wine are predominantly from our Hawke's Bay vineyards and have been produced in a
lightly oaked style to retain the natural, fresh fruit flavours. A portion of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation to contribute complexity and softness to the palate.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays golden straw colours with ripe melon, peach and citrus flavours. The oak enhances the wine and adds a subtle biscuity character.
This wine can be enjoyed on release but will also develop in the bottle for several years from vintage date. Enjoy with fresh seafood - mussels, salmon or white fish, veal or Poultry dishes.
