A lively, medium-bodied white Wine with ripe, juicy
pear & White Peach flavours. Gentle hints of spice & a
good acid balance.
The Awa Awa Story
Awa Awa means ‘river gorge’ in Maori. When Maori arrived in New Zealand they settled in the river valleys and along the coast where food was plentiful. Today, many of these areas have given way to vineyards, producing outstanding premium New Zealand wine.
Winemaking
The warm, dry 2013 growing season produced near perfect conditions for most varieties and Pinot Gris in particular, produced fruit with a wonderful array of ripe varietal flavours.
Grapes were machine-harvested, fermented cool in predominantly stainless steel tanks then bottled early to retain the fresh, natural fruit flavours.
Tasting Notes
The colour is pale straw with light gold hues. A lively, medium-bodied white wine with ripe, juicy pear and white peach flavours. The palate is smooth and soft with good length, gentle hints of spice and a good acid balance.
This delightful Pinot Gris with ripe fruit flavours is an ideal match with seafood, white meats, fresh salads and vegetarian dishes.
Best enjoyed within three to five years of vintage date.
