Chianti is a product that has made Tuscany famous throughout the world. The clay-limestone soil combined with a favourable climate is ideal for Grape cultivation. Rules for the production of Chianti were fixed as early as the 19th century and in 1932 regulations, governing the number of vines that could be grown per hector and the grape varieties to be used, were set. The area of production touches the provinces of Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. It’s such a vast area that is subdivided in zones of production such as Classico, Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colline Pisane, Montalbano, Rufina and Montespertoli. Very interesting the rediscovery of typology “Superiore”. In 1984 Chianti was recognised as Denominazione di Origine Conrollata e Garantita (DOCG) and this means, beyond analityc verification, that it has to pass an organoleptic exam by special tasting commission of the local Chamber of Commerce. The mark applied to the bottle means it has complied the regulations and that it’s 100% traceable.
From the heart of Tuscany, Sorelli produces the wines of the tuscan tradition with the and authenticity of a family that from the early 1900s is passionately dedicated to wine. The close ties with family farmers and local producers have allowed to become one of the major Chianti producers and an established presence in the Italian and international wine scene.
