Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) – is referred to the kind of decapod crustaceans of the suborder prawns (Dendrobranchiata). Tiger shrimps have got their name for the black stripes on the shell, which remain on the meat after cleaning. Commercial wild catches occur in warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Black tiger shrimps are also widely cultivated as well as in India, China, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Black tiger prawns live at a depth of 16-22 meters, normal size varies from 115 -155 mm. Tiger shrimp comes to the market frozen, peeled or shell-on, cooked and raw.
